At the start of our collaboration, Obolon already operated a small network of retail stores. However, these locations lacked unified standards — each varied in format and visual identity, with no planograms or service system in place. Our task was to deeply standardize and adapt their existing experience to meet the demands of scalability and franchising.
Another key challenge was aligning the interests of a major brand with the expectations of future franchise partners. We needed to develop a format that was profitable for the manufacturer, easy to implement for franchisees, and attractive to the end consumer.
On November 29, 2022, sales of the O Market franchise started at the MOST Franchising Day event. The same day, the first franchise agreement with a partner was signed. An active sales process began in February 2023. By the end of 2023, our team had attracted 11 partners, which is equal to 21 franchise points.
As of the end of 2024, the network had grown to 45 stores in 18 cities of Ukraine. We not only achieved our goals, but also created a new standard in retail by transforming disparate points of sale into a holistic model of modern retail suitable for replication.
At the beginning of 2025, contracts were signed and lump-sum payments were paid for the launch of five new stores with existing partners. The 2025 strategy involves opening new locations with exclusive partners, since such a model is the most effective for this format. The partner will be assigned a certain territory and a specific number of facilities that he must open during a certain period.
Obolon is a legendary brand in Ukraine, synonymous with the beer market, thanks to its more than 30-year history and stable demand.
Obolon has 9 enterprises in different regions of Ukraine, employing over 4,000 people.
